ART

 

Lead Artist

 

Biodroid is looking for a talented individual to help us create awe-inspiring visuals for our games.

 

Essential Functions:

 

- Approach all projects with a “big picture” vision, incorporating the project, art team and company needs, long and short term

- Working together with the Studio Art Director in developing a unique and cohesive style

- Help maintain art team schedule and priorities.

- Create and polish all asset types, ranging from environmental and characters to effects.

- Provide technical support in general for the art team

- Mentor junior resources to advance their skills

 

Desired Qualifications:

 

- Traditional Art and design skills
- Exceptional understanding of color, lighting and functional details
- Experience in 2D concept design and painting processes
- In-depth grasp of pleasing shapes, forms and silhouette
- Advanced 3D modeling and animation knowledge
- Ability to lead and work as part of a team
- Ability to manage people, time and resources
- Good organization skills
- Excellent internal and external communication skills;
- The ability to effectively collaborate with external parties
- Good constraint management, conflict resolution and problem solving skills;
- Highly proficient in 2D/3D art packages (Maya, Photoshop, XSI…)

3D Modeler / Character Artist

 

Biodroid is looking for experienced Character / Object Modelers with the passion and ability to create models in a variety of art styles.

 

Essential Functions

- Create 3D assets in accordance to style guide and art direction.
- Collaborate with conceptual artists to ensure concept artwork is translated properly into 3D asset.
- Prepare 3D assets to be used in game: polygon and texture optimization, collision, surface behavior, scale, damage states, LOD's, etc.
- Create and apply textures and UV's to 3D Assets.
- Collaborate with Animators to ensure 3d assets are properly prepared for rigging.
- Work closely with the Texture Team (as needed) to ensure texture style suits the project.
- Meet milestone deadlines on time.
- Solve problems and help promote artistic growth within the studio

 

Desired Qualifications:
 

- Creative vision and passion for art and video games.
- Strong foundation of human anatomy and form.
- Strong understanding of mechanical behavior to aid with vehicle construction.
- Strong knowledge of model topology in relation to rig deformation, UV layout, and texturing.
- Demonstrable experience in modeling (Maya preferred).
- Photoshop or comparable software proficiency.
- Minimum 2 years experience in the games industry and Modeler credit on at least one shipped title.
- Willingness to provide and accept direction, and work in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and personal task management skills.

Senior 3D Animator

 

Biodroid is seeking a Senior Animator for our ZbluCops game. You will work closely with the lead game designer to create a visually compelling animation style within our game. A passion for games and clear knowledge of the principles of animation are a must.

Essential Functions:

- Create gameplay animation that matches the visual style of the game, facilitate tool development, and mentor others
- Rig and animate characters, vehicles and other assets
- Work closely with programmers to establish and refine the animation pipeline
- Set a high bar for the animation team for quality and pace

 

Desired Qualifications:

 

- 3-5+ years game experience in animation using 3DS Max
- Expertise in skinning a variety of rigs, from simple characters to complex facial structures
- A solid understanding of the principles of animations
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
- The ability to problem-solve and prioritize issues while developing a production pipeline
- Experience managing a team, providing consistent feedback and encouraging individual development

ENGINEERING

 

Effects Programmer - Wii

 

Biodroid is looking for an experienced special effects artist with the right blend of artistic inspiration and technical savvy to create effects for our upcoming licensed title for the Wii.

 

Essential Functions:

 

    • - Create eye-popping effects that enhance gameplay and storytelling.
    • - Paint particle and decal textures.
    • - Animate particle motion using custom tools
    • - Work closely with artists, animators, designers and developers to integrate effects into a game engine.
    • - Help guide further development of internal effects editing tools

     

    Desired Qualifications:

     

  • - Two or more years professional game industry experience
  • - At least one shipped title as effects artist.
  • - A portfolio or demo reel that demonstrates strong artistic and technical skills as well as a firm grasp of timing and scale.
  • - Excellent cross-discipline communication skills
  • - Experience with GameCube/Wii Tev shaders
  • - Experience with the Gamebryo game engine
  • - Bachelor's degree or demonstrated equivalent experience

Lead Engineer - Core Technology Team

 

Biodroid is looking for an exceptional individual to join us and direct our new technology team through a combination of leadership, coding, and daily problem solvingl. This is a very challenging position and only senior candidates will be considered.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • - Development of a Next-Generation AI GameFramework
  • - Work on various aspects of creating solutions to get the utmost out of the PS3
  • - Cross platform code development

- Leading a team of engineers in the design and implementation of tools, pipeline and workflow enhancements, platform-specific subsystems, and optimizations

- Extending and enhancing proprietary tech to address performance, platform, production, tools, and gameplay requirements

 

Desired Qualifications:

 

  • - 5 or more years C++ object oriented experience
  • - Strong 3D math and graphics background
  • - Strong understanding of COLLADA
  • - Experience with next generation cross-platform development
  • - Experience working with all major aspects of a game engine

PlayStation 3 Programmers

 

Biodroid is looking for core technology programmers to develop our propriety cross-platform technology beyond the current generation of hardware.

 

Essential Functions:

 

- Responsibility for creating PS3 specific technology for AI and biological behaviors
- Porting and optimization of existing systems on the PS3 platform, and their maintenance
- Moving CPU intensive modules onto SPU threads

 

Desired Qualifications:

 

- Considerable experience of designing and implementing new shaders and graphic techniques.
- Must have strong software engineering and debugging skills.

- Strong understanding of COLLADA

- Strong problem solving skills
- Thorough understanding of the PlayStation 3 architecture, including experience with SPUs, GPU, pixel and vertex shaders, SPURS multi-threading
- Experience with optimization techniques, data structures and algorithms
- Extensive and up to date experience of graphics rendering and visual effects technology is essential.
- Strong Mathematics, C++ and Direct X skills are essential.
- Algorithm, code optimisation, and 3D principles experience.
- Multiprocessor and/or multithreaded programming experience would be beneficial.
- Experience of PlayStation 3, XB360 or high-end PC development is essential.
- Must be self motivated, forward thinking and organised.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills required.
- A Self-disciplined and proactive approach to work with an appetite to learn and implement new ideas and techniques.
